Running a popular brand means dealing with trolls on a regular basis. Since day one we have been a lightning rod for trolls, which was honestly quite surprising for us. After all our gear isn't really controversial. I mean honestly how could anyone be offended by a shirt that says "Rise and Grind" or "Dream Big Hustle Harder". Well those sayings must really bother some people! We do our best to respond to negative comments as positively as possible. We stay light and sarcastic, but obviously defend our brand because we believe in it. This strategy has worked very well for us and we actually convert a lot of trolls into paying customers, which is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Not because we made a sale, but because we stopped a troll.
Lately our incredible fans have begun dealing with trolls for us, which has been awesome. It's one thing for the brand to put a troll in his or her place, but it's a totally different thing for a fan to do it. Seeing this happen multiple times gave us an idea for an anti-cyberbullying campaign.
We've posted links to our active ads on Facebook, which all have plenty of negative and hateful comments on them. We invite you to respond in the most creative fashion you can think of. At the end of each month we will select the best response and make a $50 donation in that person's name to the Megan Meier Foundation. That person will also receive a free poster or mug.
The mission of the Megan Meier Foundation is to promote awareness, education and positive change in response to the issues surrounding bullying, cyberbullying and suicide. To learn more about this incredible foundation please visit http://www.meganmeierfoundation.org/.
